Miscellaneous

Random tidbits from the last month plus (Nov/Dec) -

K was home today, so when Shorty got up early he got up with her and let me sleep in.  I wake up an hour later and come downstairs to find her eating breakfast.  Of chocolate ice cream. On the kitchen floor.  Least it was homemade ice cream!

Shorty was upset about wearing big girl underwear (instead of diaper), and was crying.  K came to help her. She told him she was wearing big girl undies and that "tears fell out of my eyes".  When asked why, she answered "because I was crying".

Shorty knows how to spell her name.  She claims to write it, but it usually just ends up looking like Os because Os are easy to write.  We were reading stories last night before bed and she pointed on the page to the word "on" and said "there's an O right there".  It was pretty cool to see her notice that on a page.  She's also started noticing it as we are out - like a store sign, or billboard, etc.

This morning I saw her running around, then take something and go into the bathroom and close the door.  Sometimes it's for privacy, usually it's because she doesn't want to get caught with something she shouldn't have.  A minute later I heard scratching on the wall.  I went in and she had a pencil and was drawing on the wall.  I told her "I can hear you drawing on the wall". She looked at me, kind of shrugged like "awe man, should have been quieter!" and then ran out. Stopped short though, ran back in and showed me where she'd drawn and told me to clean it.

I (A) was in the laundry room sorting laundry to get a load going.  Shorty came to me and said she was hungry and wanted Os and milk.  I came out of the laundry room a few minutes later to this.  She looks at me and says "I feed myself." She'd found the cereal, pulled it down, set up camp on the floor. What she's eating though isn't the Os, it's Honey Graham cereal...

Shorty was loudly banging cupboard doors, saying "open, close, open, close".  I said "it's too loud, too loud".  She replied "cover your ears".

K. at table, done eating but reading.  Shorty done and down from her chair but sitting on another chair saying "daddy help me, help me daddy".  K looks up, sees her holding a matchbook and says "oh no honey, we light matches when we are bigger".  Shorty says "No, I am bigger.  I'm two."
Shorty, holding her owl Swoops in a bag "come on baby owl, let's go to the hospital to hold baby Arlo."

It's bedtime, we've read stories and said goodnight. K goes to leave Shorty's room, but gets chased down and pulled back into the room by her, who's saying "Get in here boy, get in here/"

I (A) am doing my hair in the morning, Shorty looks at me and says "ohh, your hair looks so pretty". I touch her arm and say "thank you".  She then pats my leg and says "you look kinda {serious pause} nice."

Random pics

we'd moved her highchair seat to the floor briefly.  She found it the perfect spot to sit and read magazines.

we were working together to make breakfast cookies, as Shorty had requested.  Apparently this day they needed fresh, whole tomatoes added.

I (A) got out of the shower.  My lotion was not where it usually sits.  I thought maybe I'd left it in the other bathroom.  Didn't find it.  However, I did find it plus Shorty in the extra bedroom.

On the way home we stopped @ the Bremerton Bug & Reptile Museum.

She barely touched it with her finger. Got a sticker that said "I was brave, I touched a critter @ the Bremerton Bug & Reptile Museum."

Pretty good little traveler. Did get bored though, and decided to play dump with the snacks.
